I'm riding my bike for MCC, but I'm also riding for myself! I've mapped out a 30km route that will take me past 16 homes of my congregation members (and near a few more), people whose real-time faces and voices I've been missing for the past 2 months. I hope to get some waves, cheers, and even some porch-to-sidewalk chats as I go by, making this a whole Hamilton Mennonite Church effort to support MCC and each other while we are distant from one another.
Though I'm feeling this momentary isolation, MCC works with people who experience deep isolation due to poverty, incarceration, forced migration, and so many other forces. This ride is to keep that work going in strange global times.
Be in touch for details about my route & timing. It turns out that sudden surgery has changed my timing plans, but I will still ride again for MCC, after my recovery!
