About ONTARIO HEADWATERS INSTITUTE

Established in 2003, the OHI initially focused on headwaters, the foundation of our watersheds, as well as our economic and social vitality.

In 2018, we expanded our mandate include full watershed management, natural heritage, and the health of receiving waters such as the Great Lakes.

We address these issues through three portfolios: research, education, and civic engagement. The latter works on collaborative efforts in partnership with other organizations sharing a common cause.

Past collaborative efforts include facilitating numerous community discussions with scores of regional partners; the WaterScape program for increased action for resilient landscapes and healthy waters across South-central Ontario; and our new, 2021 project on Headwater Alliances to facilitate healthy watersheds locally.
