The ODHS is a charity formed in 1982 to advocate for and promote the conservation of heritage, historical structures and sites around Oliver, BC; and to manage the Oliver Archives, Museum and Collections in the interests of the town and District. The ODHS is charged with maintaining the Museum building which appears on the heritage register; and was constructed in the 1920's as the BC Provincial Police Station. The ODHS also prosecutes heritage projects with the aim of conserving and educating about heritage sites within the town environs, including the historic former gold mining townsite of Fairview, from where the townsite's 1896 former Jailhouse was recovered by the ODHS, and repositioned to the grounds of the Oliver Museum, where it's conservation is the responsibility of the ODHS; such building also appearing on the Provincial Heritage Register.
