The oceans face a massive and growing threat from something we encounter everyday: plastics. An estimated eight million tonnes of plastic enters our oceans every year from land-based sources, roughly equivalent to dumping a garbage truck full of plastic into the oceans every minute!
It's important for us to fight plastic in our own lives, however we also need a systemic change. We need governments and companies to take responsibility for the wastes that they are producing, and to reduce the amount of single-use plastics that are entering the supply chain.
