As the acting Education for Sustainable Development officer in my high school and head of our student-led Green Team, I am excited to create a buzz among our student body. These kids are passionate about local and regional issues while promoting prosperity to protect our planet and support the United Nations sustainable development goals.
Please help me fight ocean plastic pollution by donating to my Great Lengths: Swim for Plastic-Free Oceans fundraiser. I am pledging to swim 2 KM to raise money to support Oceana Canada's campaign to turn the tide against plastic pollution.
The oceans face a massive and growing threat from something we encounter every day: plastics. An estimated eight million tonnes of plastic enters our oceans every year from land-based sources, roughly equivalent to dumping a garbage truck full of plastic into the oceans every minute!
