Help me fight ocean plastic pollution by donating to my Great Lengths: Swim for Plastic-Free Oceans fundraiser. I am pledging to swim (180,000 meters by dec 15) to raise money to support Oceana Canada's campaign to turn the tide against plastic pollution. In this swim 1 meter swam represents 10 billion pieces of plastic that need to be removed from the largest plastic patch In the ocean. The oceans face a massive and growing threat from something we encounter everyday: plastics. An estimated eight million tonnes of plastic enters our oceans every year from land-based sources.
I almost did not do this -I felt like a hypocrite, then I realized it is people like me that need to change
