About Our Charity
Founded in 1936, the Oakville & Milton Humane Society (OMHS) is an independent, non-profit charitable organization that provides care and shelter for approximately 3,000 homeless, unwanted, stray, injured and abused companion, farm and wild animals each year. In addition, the shelter offers an increasingly wide range of support services including:
- 24-hour emergency service
- Lost and found
- Animals for adoption
- By-law enforcement within the Town of Oakville
We rescue homeless animals and wildlife in distress and provide medical treatment, food and shelter for those in our care. We reunite lost pets with their families and offer boarding and medical support for those individuals in crisis through our Families in Transition program. We carefully place our animals for adoption and raise awareness of the challenges our animals face by delivering programs and services through education and acting as a resource for the community.
OMHS relies entirely on donations from the public to care for and find homes for the animals.
