The Nova Scotia Lighthouse Preservation Society (NSLPS), a non-profit volunteer charity, was formed in 1994 to save lighthouses from demolition by the federal government and to encourage the transfer of these traditional aids to navigation to municipalities or local non-profit community groups eager to maintain them.

Your Canada Help donation will fund these initiatives that NSLPS are using to promote and preserve Nova Scotia lighthouses now and into the future:

I. the production and distribution of a Nova Scotia Lighthouse Site map in both paper and online format to direct visitors to lighthouses where it is safe to park to view or visit them;

II. the funding of interpretative signage to install at lighthouses where none exist;

III. the circulation of a Lighthouse Activity Booklet that is suitable for all ages and will be used primarily to introduce lighthouses to children who will be their future guardians.
