Our Mission

The rolling hills, farms, forests and waterways of Northumberland County have been cherished for generations.

The Northumberland Land Trust (NLT) is a non-profit, non-government organization dedicated to preserving this vital natural heritage of Northumberland County.

The NLT is committed to working with landowners to help ensure that these cherished landscapes will also be there for future generations.

Since 2004, NLT has helped protect over 1200 acres of natural lands in the Oak Ridges Moraine, Cold Creek watershed, and other areas of Northumberland County

Properties and conservation easements have been donated to us by individuals with a great love for nature.

Our goal is to protect natural lands by:

• accepting donations of significant lands to manage as nature reserves

• entering into conservation easements with willing owners to legally protect natural areas from future development

• working cooperatively with other organizations to acquire or manage ecological lands

• engaging private landowners and volunteers in positive conservation actions

• increasing local knowledge and awareness about natural heritage conservation
