About NORTH POINT DOUGLAS WOMEN'S CENTRE INC.
North Point Douglas Women's Centre is a community resource centre in one of Winnipeg's oldest neighbourhoods. We provide a drop-in space five days a week that responds to basic needs (safety, food security, phone, clothing, computers, information, counselling, spiritual guidance, connection, etc.), and seek to support and empower women and their families as they address issues in their lives. During limited hours some resources are offered to community men. Programming responds to needs identified by the community with special focus on health and safety. Health programming includes information and programs encouraging healthy food, increased physical activity and building strong relationships within families and between neighbours. Safety work includes Mama Bear Clan and activities for children, youth, and families that build community engagement (Austin Street Festival, Community Oven).
