The Norfolk County Sports Hall of Recognition's mandate is to recognize and honour individuals and teams who have made significant contributions to Norfolk County’s sports history.
Since its inception 30 years ago, the Norfolk County Sports Hall of Recognition has inducted over 90 individuals, including NHL hockey players and Olympic athletes. Inductees have excelled at a range of sports, including hockey, baseball, fastball, archery, gymnastics, curling, football, skydiving, drag racing, long distance swimming, golf, and darts.
In addition to managing displays at the Simcoe Recreation Centre, and hosting the Induction Dinners, the Norfolk County Sports Hall of Recognition, in conjunction with Norfolk County, hosts the annual Parade of Champions. The Sports Hall also conducts fundraising events, such as the biennial golf tournament.
On the occasion of its 25th anniversary, the Sports Hall issued a 25th anniversary book, Norfolk County Sports Hall of Recognition: The First Twenty-Five Years, written by George Pond. Copies of the book can be purchased at Nifty Gifty in Waterford, at the Simcoe BIA office, at Firefly and Fox in Simcoe, or at the Simcoe Recreation Centre.
