About This Charity

Founded in 1895, the Niagara Historical Society collects, preserves, researches, educates and promotes the history of Niagara- on-the-lake and its communities. In 1907, the Society opened Memorial Hall, the first building in Ontario designed solely for use as an historical museum. Today, the Niagara-on-the-Lake Museum cares for over 50,000 artefacts and archives and offers exhibitions, special events, publications and educational programs for the community and its visitors. The Friends of Fort George is a non-profit, charitable organization which supports Parks Canada for the protection, preservation, promotion and interpretation of the historical resources and stories of national significance of Niagara National Historic Sites including Fort George, Brock’s Monument, Butler’s Barracks, Fort Mississauga, Lakeshore Properties and the Military Reserve, known as the Commons.
