  • Minnijean Brown-Trickey will talk about her involvement in the desegregation of an all white school in Little Rock, Arkansas during the Civil Rights Era and importance of Equity in Education.
  • Emmanuel Jal will speak on the lasting impact of being a Sudanese child soldier in the 1980s. He'll also share reflections on his personal journey to reclaim his freedom and power.

Here’s some background history about the SUUBI FUSION TROUPE:

It all started with Mrs. Kalule's desire to find different ways for the youth she was sheltering to open up and share their experiences, however traumatic, so they could heal and move on. She had tried a few remedies from her work as a psychiatric nurse, but they did not seem to help, so thought of using African music and the sound of the drum as a starting point for story telling.
