New Hope Community Bikes started in 2008 as an initiative of New Hope Church. We are a non-profit registered charity, that seeks to get more people on affordable, reliable bicycles and provide employment and job training opportunities for youth.
We believe bicycles can help build a healthier, more environmentally friendly community and that everyone should have access to affordable, efficient transportation. We are a learning hub for building and repairing bikes, offering safe cycling education, repair skills and fostering a rich and inclusive cycling community.
We run a school based cycle education program called Ride Smart, where we put bikes in schools and students on bikes. To date over 5500 students have participated in Ride Smart and over 500 have learned to ride for the very first time.
For us at New Hope Community Bikes, the bicycle is our preferred means for building community, in Hamilton and beyond.
