Good Food For All!

The Depot Community Food Centre is a community-based non-profit organization that works collaboratively with other community partners to address issues of food security in Montreal's NDG neighbourhood and the surrounding areas.

Our objectives:

• To increase access to healthy food for community members in situations of low income, in a respectful and dignified manner.
• To reduce social isolation and increase participants’ connections to a variety of supports.
• To strengthen skills, knowledge and healthy habits around food.
• To foster personal growth and community engagement among participants.
• To promote knowledge of poverty, social justice and food system issues, and create opportunities to take effective action on these issues.

Our story

Founded in 1986 as the NDG Food Depot, the Depot has been a recognized independent charitable organization, with a volunteer Board of Directors, since 2003. In 2018, The Depot was recognized as the first Community Food Centre in Quebec, reflecting our commitment to programming that addresses food insecurity holistically and uses food to bring people together, break social isolation, build skills and increase community connections.
