The mission of the Nanaimo Science and Sustainability Society (Nanaimo Science) is to inspire children and develop their interest in science and sustainability through hands-on learning. 

Since incorporating as a non-profit society in 2010, Nanaimo Science has brought together environmental, educational, research, business, and recreational groups around our mission of science and sustainability education.  We offer free or low-cost quality educational experiences for children.  Our programs are aimed at preschoolers to children in Grade 7 along with their families.  

We support educators through in-school science programs, field trips, and other resources.  We work with home school learners and with other children's groups to provide science learning opportunities within our science studio or elsewhere via our "Science on the Move" program.  We also take part in several free or by-donation events across the central Vancouver Island region, including our own "Science in the Park" series during the summer months, "Science Spooktacular" in October, and "Science Sunday Expo" - a landmark yearly event where we bring together various science and environmental organizations to showcase their programming and activities to families.

Donations help us run these programs and purchase equipment that children will use to learn about science, technology and sustainability.  Your contributions also help us develop new content and enhance our offerings so that children can learn about new concepts, broaden our curriculum, and introduce more advanced subjects to older children.

As a non-profit organization, we rely on grants and donations to operate.  Your support helps us be successful, which in turn enriches our community!
