The Nanaimo Conservatory of Music began as the Central Vancouver Island Music and the performing arts have a profound impact on the lives of young people. Whether or not they go on to be professional musicians, the positive effects of music education on students' academic and physical skills and their confidence and self-esteem have been well documented.
Founded in 1977, the Nanaimo Conservatory of Music (NCM) is a non-profit, registered charity music school that offers ensembles, individual and group lessons to students of all levels and ages. One of only two community music schools on Vancouver Island, the NCM is committed to enriching lives through music in a vibrant community accessible to all.
