Our Mission

The Nanaimo Child Development Centre (NCDC) is a community-based, non-profit organization that has been an integral part of the community since 1967. Our mandate is to provide individualized services for children with developmental needs, from birth to age 19, and their families that promote optimum child development. Our aim is to assist children during their growth and development with their communication skills, motor skills and learning abilities, while recognizing and addressing the diverse needs of each child to ensure he/she reaches their full potential.

About Nanaimo Child Development Centre Society

The NCDC provides support, assessment and therapy treatment to children and their families in Ladysmith, Nanaimo, Lantzville, Gabriola Island and Protection Island. In addition, the NCDC offers specialized assessments to children who live in Duncan, Ucluelet, Tofino, Nanaimo, Ladysmith, Parksville and Qualicum Beach, and who are thought to have Complex Developmental & Behavioural Conditions.

Last year nearly 1800 services were provided to children and their families at our Centre. The need for our services is great and we have a waiting list up to a year (12 months) for some services (speech & language therapy & occupational therapy in particular).

Donations allow us to help children in their lives to obtain the therapy and support they need, and grow to their optimum development, enriching our community. As a not-for-profit agency, community support is vital in our effort to serve this much-needed population.
