Every summer, an incredible international classical music festival is held on beautiful Lake Como - one of the most fascinating and picturesque places in Italy.Founded by renowned Canadian pianist Louis Lortie and conductor Paolo Bressan, the LacMus Festival combines together the magic of music with the uniqueness of the venues and landscapes on Lake Como.
The festival features some of the most internationally recognized music artists, together with some of the most promising young students of prestigious music academies. The result is the creation of new synergies between young talents and famous artists.
A unique feature of the festival is that it has never had a ‘fixed’ concert hall or venue. Rather, the concerts all take place in some of the most magnificent and historically and culturally significant venues around Lake Como, such as the Villa la Balbianello, Villa Carlotta, Villa Melzi, Grand Hotel Tremezzo, and the Santuario della Madonna del Soccorso (a UNESCO site) etc. Many of the concerts are also paired with ‘side events’, combining music with nature walks, yoga etc.
While visitors are immersed in music and the rich cultural and historic tapestry of the area, this deliberate lack of fixed infrastructure means that for each and every concert, a new host venue must be transformed into a concert space – no easy task!
