My Friend’s House offers a 24-hour support line, emergency shelter, child and youth programming, therapeutic counselling, wellness, and legal support and above all … safety. Less than half the annual operating budget for these services is funded by government support, with the balance through community support and fundraising. We hope our event will increase awareness of this valuable community asset and encourage our friends to get involved.
Why the Red Shoe? The Red Shoe Walk is the signature annual awareness and fundraising event for My Friend's House. The Red Shoe represents the challenges women under threat of violence and abuse endure. Being “in her shoes” shows our commitment to end violence against women.
