About Muslim Food Bank and Community Services Society

MFBCS is turning the table on hunger by providing essential food assistance and advocating sustainable self-reliance to thousands of individuals in British Columbia and Ontario, across Metro Vancouver, Fraser Valley and Greater Toronto Area. We provide the most at-risk members of our society with transformative case management, emotional support, career development and capacity building.

We receive an average of 5,000 people a month at risk, in urgent need of basic food security and grant them a helping hand. The overwhelming majority of our clients are seniors, women, refugees and youth whom we aim to provide food for up to 3.6 Million meals this year. With the help of our donors we are able to go a step further, offering one-on-one support and programming ranging from employment readiness for those that were to find any success to date, to filling in educational gaps refugee children endured during prolonged periods in harsh camps, dental camps, case management and capacity building.

During the current COVID-19 crisis, our organization is in the front line dealing with challenges of food insecurity, helping the seniors and the vulnerable with food, medicine, mental health support and other needs.

Our Impact

MFBCS is turning the table on hunger for BC’s most at-risk, and working to keep it down. We serve people in the lower-mainland from diverse grounds, with 5000 individuals relying on our essential food assistance every month. We don’t just stop at addressing immediate needs and have created comprehensive services available to clients that aid in everything from Youth and Senior support to education and employment readiness, we endeavour to provide access to the tools needed in overcoming barriers to achieving a better life.

Currently we serve ~80% of the resettled Syrian Refugees in British Columbia as well as over 1,500 seniors & youth. We aim to provide 3.7 Million meals this year through our food-hamper program.
