For over 30 years, Muskoka Family Focus and Children’s Place (MFF) has been serving families throughout the district by living out its Mission Statement, “Muskoka Family Focus and Children’s Place is dedicated to providing high quality child and family supports and educational resources”.  In addition to providing inclusive licensed childcare, MFF also provides training for parents through workshops offered alone and in partnership with other community agencies.

Parent education allows parents to learn the skills they need to form a strong attachment with their children, thus ensuring that they are providing a safe haven where children can grow and thrive. There is much research available to show the positive effects of a strong parent-child attachment on self-esteem, cognitive and social development, impulse control and success in school, to name just a few.

Workshops for parents are universal programs meaning that participants come from all socio-economic backgrounds and family compositions. They provide an excellent opportunity for parents to form support networks, learn about the services available in Muskoka, and to discover that, regardless of their life circumstances, parents face many of the same challenges.
