Symphony Nova Scotia: Denise Djokic Plays Haydn

Featuring: Holly Mathieson, conductor; Denise Djokic, cello 

We bring you the crowning achievement of Louise Farrenc, one of France’s greatest 19^th-century composers, to start Symphony Nova Scotia’s 40^th Spotlight season with gusto. The expressive and spirited Cello Concerto in C Major, gifted by Haydn to a good friend, will be richly interpreted by Nova Scotia’s own Denise Djokic. Rounding out the program is Dinuk Wijeratne’s Yatra, a work we commissioned to celebrate Canada’s sesquicentennial, and a new composition especially for our 40^th from Symphony Nova Scotia bassoonist Christopher Palmer.
