Our mission at the Moose Jaw & District Food Bank is to end hunger in our community.  To provide support and assistance, free to those in need by redistributing nutritious food collected through various means such as food drives and donations. 

It’s hard to believe that 39 years has passed since the Moose Jaw & District Food Bank first opened its doors.  Time doesn’t stand still and neither does the growing need to fight food insecurity in our community.  Each year we’re seeing a steadily increasing demand of more folks needing to access our emergency services.

In our inaugural year, 1984, we served 1036 households.  In 2023, 7916 households accessed our emergency hampers, an increase of 58% over 2022.  Opening our doors in 1984 was meant to be a short-term solution for a need we were witnessing in Moose Jaw, but the need has continued for our friends and neighbours, and today we continue to provide food as well as offering support programming and partnerships with other community-based organizations.

The giving of time, money, and effort by compassionate and conscientious individuals and businesses in our community are the driving forces behind our mission. It is only because of our dedicated staff, and volunteers along with our community partners and donors that make our mission of "Zero Hunger" a possibility.

We are part of a national food bank network seeking to alleviate food insecurity for those in need. Our Food Bank is not government subsidized and relies solely on our community and people like you.
