Mersey Tobeatic Research Institute

about

The Mersey Tobeatic Research Institute (MTRI) is nested in the heart of South West Nova Scotia. Our field station, a hub of scientific work and outreach, is adjacent to Kejimkujik National Park and Historic Site.

MTRI is a co-operative of landowners, researchers and citizen scientists all working together to achieve a shared mission and vision.

Our mission is to promote, conserve and sustain biodiversity in Kespukwitk (SW NS) as well as beyond. We do this through research, education and cooperation with numerous partners and our members.

Our vision is to build a world without species-at-risk, where forests and waterways are healthy, invasive species don’t spread and considerable areas of nature are left to sustain themselves. A world that nurtures human society as well, where local communities prosper and are sustainable for all future generations to come.
