MERCY SHIPS CANADA

about

Our Mission

Bring accessible healthcare services to people in great need. We do this by offering surgical, eye and dental care and medical capacity-building programs designed to strengthen healthcare systems. Contributing to improved Africa healthcare means people can participate more fully in social and economic activities. Improving lives and communities (and ultimately the country) is the impact of our work.

About Mercy Ships

Mercy Ships operates hospital ships run by skilled volunteers to provide free world-class medical services to developing nations

In 1978, Don and Deyon Stephens founders of Mercy Ships, had a dream. To bring healthcare to those who needed it but couldn't get it. It was a lofty goal, one that seemed impossible. But now, 40 years later, Mercy Ships is still helping those get access to safe and reliable healthcare.

Mercy Ships has worked in more than 70 countries providing services valued at more than $1.3 billion, treating more than 2.56 million direct beneficiaries.

The Mercy Ships fleet consists of two world-class hospital ships. Every year, they are operated by more than 1,600 volunteers from over 40 nations to bring necessary medical care, surgeries and capacity building to Africa.

Professionals including surgeons, dentists, nurses, healthcare trainers, teachers, cooks, mariner engineers, and agriculturalists donate their time and skills to the mission. With offices in 16 nations, Mercy Ships seeks to transform individuals and serve nations one at a time.
