The Melville Rail Station Heritage Association (MRSHA) is a non-profit grass roots organization created to retore the Melville Train Station. MRSHA was created on 30 August 2004 in response to CN's plans to demolish the historic train station. After six years of negotiations the station became the property of MRSHA in 2010 with the land it is situated on leased for 99 years.
This one of a kind station was built by the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway (GTPR) in 1908. It anchors Main Street and is one the most prominent buildings in Melville. Almost all of the exterior has been restored to its original appearance and restoration work in the interior is ongoing.
Our goal is to restore the station back to its 1908 character with modern features, to serve the community and to be financially self-sufficient.
