The Mayne Island Agricultural Society and Fall Fair is a non-profit, charitable society that preserves and operates our community heritage Agricultural Hall (circa 1900), the Museum (Plumper Pass Gaol,1896) and community Thrift Shop in Miners Bay on Mayne Island.
We began in the early 1900s by organizing and sponsoring an annual Fall Fair. In 1962 we received our charter and took over the care and operation of the Agricultural Hall. In 1971 we opened the old gaol building as a museum and shortly after opened the Thrift Shop as a social enterprise program to raise funds to maintain the Hall, Museum and agricultural programs. The society is run entirely by community volunteers. This centre has become an important part of the social fabric of the Mayne Island community.
We partner with various community groups such as the local Farmers Market, the annual Apple Festival and the Campbell Bay Music Festival. We also partner with the WSANEC peoples who hold Mayne Island as part of their hereditary lands to showcase their stories, art and culture.
