MLA provides leadership in the promotion, development, and support of library and information services in Manitoba for the benefit of MLA members, the library and information community and the citizens of Manitoba.  MLA also participates with associations committed to Librarianship at the National level.

Prison Libraries Committee (PLC) of the Manitoba Library Association (MLA) is a volunteer group that provides collections, programming and library awareness for incarcerated and reintegrating men and women in the justice system.

        The Joe Big George Memorial Collection and Fund has been created to ensure provincial carceral institutions have the Indigenous materials that our incarcerated community members need, want, and deserve. Please consider donating to this fund in memory and honour of Joe Big George, an Elder in both federal and provincial correctional centres over the past 16 years. Sadly, Joe passed away in April 2023 after a short journey with leukemia.

Advocacy Committee MLA is concerned with advocating on behalf of Manitoba libraries, library workers and all Manitobans regarding issues relevant to library and information services. We do this primarily through participating in national campaigns and promoting issues which affect libraries.
