The Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre is a grandmother in the Winnipeg family of community service providers and was established in 1984 to reclaim Indigenous people’s inherent role and responsibility as the caregivers for Indigenous children and families in Winnipeg.
Today, with over fifty (50) programs, and eleven (11) sites, and 200 staff and volunteers, Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre provides a valued local presence in key neighborhoods where our community lives.
In the past 24-days, we have prepared and delivered 12,300 emergency kits to over 2,700 families that have over 4,031 children under the age of 10. We also delivered to 482 Seniors/Elders and 303 to those experiencing homelessness.
