About Our Charity

There’s an old saying……that goes something like “Give a man a fish, and you’ll feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you’ve fed him for a lifetime.” Through providing mechanisms that build literacy and learning skills from birth to seniors and collaborating with community and other agencies, we strive to give people the ability to look after themselves for a lifetime.  Literacy is a tool that will allow a person to create his/her own solutions in the future.  A conscious strategy in our programming has been to focus on early intervention and prevention programs that build parent’s skills and competency in helping their children. This strategy provides a way to support children early and as well, connect with parents as adult learners.  We  recognize that life long learning is critical to maintaining and creating a literate society so another focus is on adult learning, which includes programs for low literacy adults, technology for all ages and English Language Learning.
