LEGACY PLACE SOCIETY

about

Our Mission

Few people will know or experience the world of hurt that Peace Officers, Fire Fighters, Emergency Medical Services, 911 Dispatch & Military Personnel face in their day to day role of protecting our society. The sights, sounds & situations that they face each day on our behalf takes a toll on their families & themselves.

Legacy Place Society is a non-profit charitable organization that serves to strengthen Peace Officers, Firefighters, Emergency Medical Services, 911 Dispatch & Military Personnel & their families by building legacies of hope, mutual respect, trust & longevity to withstand the challenges of their profession within the communities they serve in.

The very nature of daily work within these professions can create emotional and physical havoc, and the vicarious trauma, operational stress injuries and the demands of the professions can become major stressors on the individual and their family.

First Responders, Military Personnel and their families often face a difficult journey as they try to understand and be supportive during recovery while maintaining family stability.  Legacy Place Society does not replace employee assistance programs or professional medical counsel and is not a duplication of existing services or charities.

About Our Charity

What defines Legacy Place Society is how our work is done.  We act as a bridge of possibilities between First Responders, Military Personnel and their families in collaboration with the Services and other charities specific to each individual service.

Our core values include - FAMILY, EMPATHY, DIVERSITY, INCLUSIVITY, CONFIDENTIALITY, COLLABORATION and INTEGRITY

Our objectives include providing relevant and practical resources to help strengthen currently serving or retired First Responders or Military and their Families.

This includes:

Accommodations - a home away from home support where possible during times of medical or personal crisis.

Peer to peer support - volunteers provide conversation and personal support in the areas such as marriage, parenting, grief, spiritual wellness, addiction recovery, single parenting, special needs children, critical incident stress management and PTSD recovery.

Web Based Resources - articles and links to support mental health and overall family wellness with resources specific to the Peace Officer, Fire Fighter, Emergency Medical Services, 911 Dispatch and Military needs.

Family Camps - creating cost effective opportunities to spend family time together.

Humanitarian Mission Trips - typically on an annual or semi-annual basis, we organize a self-funded mission trip to build houses and playgrounds, provide disaster relief or participate in local community situations.

Education Bursaries - in situations where designated funding becomes available, opportunities to receive an education bursary may be possible.

Benevolence and Legacy Tribute - opportunities to provide additional support during times of medical or family loss situations and or creating a Legacy of Life Tribute.

Conferences and Family Resiliency Workshops - we occasionally partner with similar organizations to provide workshops on a variety of topics that include mental wellness, suicide awareness, understanding resiliency, marriage, parenting, grief, spiritual wellness, addiction recovery, single parenting, special needs children, critical incident stress management and PTSD recovery.
