ART. NATURE. WATER. CITY -- A free, open-air destination for outstanding contemporary art on Toronto's Waterfront. All donations matched.
Your Donation will Help Build a New Destination with Year-Round Access to Art and Nature on Toronto’s Waterfront
The Lassonde Art Trail is at the heart of a massive $1.25B project to reroute the mouth of the Don River and build flood protection for downtown Toronto. First of its kind in Canada, the Lassonde Art Trail is a series of 15 interconnected sites that will weave through 2.7km of new waterfront parkland on Villiers Island, with a dynamic program of permanent and rotating artworks by outstanding national and international artists.
On pace to launch by 2026, LAT’s aim is to provide free year-round access to contemporary art in the outdoors for current and future generations to enjoy. Part of the Trail’s innovation is that it embeds infrastructure along its paths to support a wide variety of artworks, from major bronze and stone sculptures to installations that include light and natural materials, as well as ephemeral moments to appreciate artistic performance, music, and dance. This foresight will lower the cost of engineering and production, and will give artists flexibility to use electricity, water, and data within their work.
Your donation will be matched by the Pierre Lassonde Family’s matching challenge to create Canada’s first major destination public art trail.
