The Germain Street Open is an annual "urban golf" tournament set amongst the homes, businesses and offices of Uptown Saint John on Saturday, Oct 19. All proceeds are in support of L'Arche Saint John's artistic day program, Creative Connections.

What's Germain Street Open?
Germain Street Open, hosted by O'Leary's Pub, is in its 30th year of bringing people together uptown for loads of fun and a great cause. The mini putting event attracts teams of 4 or 5 for a journey through uptown businesses and homes as participants complete the mini putt course. Each team is motivated to pick a theme and dress in costume accordingly.
The event begins with registration at O'Leary's at 11 a.m. with a scrambled start beginning at 12 p.m. The tournament, much like a traditional golf tournament, will take about 4.5-5 hours to complete with prizes and a wrap-up party back at O'Leary's Pub.
This year we have some incredible prizes for those who come up to support our wonderful charity of choice:
- Top Fundraising Team: 4-5 weekend passes for the 2025 AREA 506 festival (sponsored by AREA 506)
- Lowest Golf Score at the Tournament: 4-5 Green Fees at Rockwood Golf Course (sponsored by Golf Rockwood)
- Best Costumes / Team Spirit: A tour of Moosehead Breweries (sponsored by Moosehead Breweries)
- Best Commercial Hole Host: A commissioned art piece from Creative Connections (Sponsored by L'Arche)
- Best Residential Hole Host: A commissioned art piece from Creative Connections (Sponsored by L'Arche)

What's L'Arche?
L'Arche Saint John is a community of people with and without intellectual disabilities, sharing life together in Saint John, New Brunswick. Their mission is to make known the gifts of people with intellectual disabilities, revealed through mutually transforming relationships. L’Arche Saint John is part of an International Federation creating homes and day programs with adults with intellectual disabilities.
Each weekday, artists, staff and volunteers come together at Creative Connections, in the heart of Uptown Saint John, to create beautiful art, find social connection and build a place of belonging.
Artists from Creative Connections have sold pieces that hang in homes around the globe - snapped up by visitors in the region who admire their individuality. The artwork stands as testaments to the beauty of a world where everyone belongs.
Creative Connections is so much more than just an art studio and gallery, though. Through art and social connection, their artists gain confidence, emotional health, and have the freedom to be themselves. They are able to engage in the world around us, having accessible and meaningful conversations about social justice issues and world events. They focus on making a space that welcomes everyone, fostering compassion, emotional health, personal growth and a profound sense of belonging for all.
