About Our Charity
Established in 1973, L’Arche Calgary Association is a Calgary-based, non-profit, charitable organization which provides an environment for people with disabilities to find their place in Calgary.
We are part of the International Federation of L’Arche Communities and a member of L’Arche Canada.
From the start, L’Arche has pioneered a “community model” based on the belief that human beings develop their abilities and talents most fully when given the opportunity to form mutual relationships of friendship with others.
We currently operate:
- Five Homes for 19 people which provide a place where everyone belongs and has a voice. In our houses, we provide social support, nurture spiritual life and help to build self-confidence .
- A Supported Independent Living Program, which supports 7 individuals in his or her own personal and social development in the context of a more independent environment.
- The Tamarack Day program, which empowers 17 core members to share their gifts and talents through work, volunteering, friendships, and participation in the life our neighborhood and the larger city.
