OUR MISSION:
To provide and promote the community use of restorative practices.
WHAT IS RESTORATIVE PRACTICE?
Restorative practices build healthy communities, reduces the impact of crime, repair harm, and restore relationships.
Ultimately, restorative communities are about building community capacity to prevent harm rather than just repair harm after it’s done and promote empathetic, connected, strong, healthy communities.
ABOUT OUR AGENCY:
We bring people together to repair the harm from conflict and crime, build community and strengthen relationships.
We have proudly served communities across Lanark County and the town of Smiths Falls for over 20 years; facilitating restorative justice forums through our Community Justice Court Diversion Program. Our programs encourage the use of restorative practices and help to prevent harm, promote strong, healthy and vibrant connections; foster empathy, emotional literacy, resilience; and facilitate peaceful conflict resolution.

The staff and volunteers of LCCJ are passionate and committed to creating lasting change in our community. Our service area includes all of Lanark County as well as the Town of Smiths Falls. Our Board of Directors is made up of 7 professionals who are representative of the community that we serve.
Over the years we have had many other opportunities to share the use of restorative practices with the community, such as schools, municipalities, other agencies, or local businesses.
Our proven track record of success in reducing recidivism to 5-7% versus the 30% of the traditional criminal justice system is to be celebrated and valued. Click on the link for information about other measurements of success.
