Lambda Scholarship Foundation Canada began in 1985 as a grassroots network of gay and lesbian professionals in Ottawa. What started as a social and fundraising club quickly grew into a national force for queer visibility and empowerment. By 1992, the group became the Lambda Foundation for Excellence, best known for “Wilde About Sappho,” one of Canada’s most celebrated queer literary events.
Today, Lambda focuses on creating scholarships and opportunities that empower 2SLGBTQIA+ and QTBIPOC students and scholars.
Working in partnership with post-secondary institutions and community organizations across Canada, we honour academic excellence, activism, and leadership. We carefully steward each fund, and our volunteer-driven model keeps administrative costs low, ensuring your gift directly reaches the students who need it most.
For 40 years, Lambda has increased access to education, uplifted underrepresented voices, and addressed systemic barriers.
