Doug & Kristie Bike to the Beach!

​We will be riding about 130 km, along with other riders, from Winnipeg to Victoria Beach in support of the Lake Winnipeg Foundation on  Friday, August 9th.

Lake Winnipeg Foundation is important to our family because we feel the health of Lake Winnipeg is important, not just as cottagers on Lake Winnipeg but also because it is the 10th largest freshwater lake in the world. Lake Winnipeg Foundation has a Science Advisory Council that works to translate science into action to address the root causes of harmful algal blooms and restore the balance of our lake.

Many of you have cottages on this lake or know people who do. You have seen it turn green from excessive algae. This algae affects not only people, children, and animals that live or visit the lake but also industries and communities that rely on a healthy lake. See the picture below of the lake that we took a few years ago from our place at Victoria Beach.
