Our Mission

The Korean Senior Citizens Society of Toronto(KSCST) was established to provide critical social, recreational and outreach services for Korean seniors living in the Greater Toronto Area as well as municipalities such as Brantford, Burlington, Hamilton, Milton, Oakville, Mississauga, Richmondhill, Orillia, Newmarket, Barrie, Oshawa and Peterborough.

The main objective of KSCST is to improve the well-being and quality of life of Korean seniors through social service programs and recreational and educational activities by trained staff and volunteers.

The vision of KSCST is “an uncompromising commitment to enhance lives of Korean seniors in the G.T.A. and their families and communities – now and in the future.”

KSCST which is serving Korean seniors over 30 years is the largest Korean agency for seniors in Canada in the light of the number of members and the kind of services.

About KOREAN SENIOR CITIZENS SOCIETY OF TORONTO

More than 2,000 Korean seniors have registered KSCST as member and about 900 clients every month are visiting the centre to use the following services and programs:

?Social services: Translation, interpretation, referral to social services and legal aid, assistance in filling out various forms.

?Counseling and crisis intervention: Counsel and support seniors in abusive relationships or in need of social or psychological assistance.

?Recreational/sports programs: Moo-Gung-Hwa Chorus,recorder team,writing club,spring and fall picnics,gate ball,bowling,Korean traditional music and games contests.

?Computer and ESL classes: Basic computer skills including using Internet, e-mail and Word processor, and everyday conversation in English

?Educational seminars: Senior academy every spring and fall, workshops for Korean seniors about physical and mental health, nutrition, medication and Canadian etiquette to help to adapt to Canadian society
