About Kingston WritersFest
Kingston WritersFest is a five-day readers' and writers' festival featuring more than 60 top Canadian and international authors in 45+ events – readings, onstage conversations, performances, and Writers Retreat master classes for emerging and established writers.
Among our author alumni are Nobel Prize winner J.M. Coetzee, Thomas King, Wayne Grady, David Mitchell, Joyce Carol Oates, Margaret Atwood, Michael Chabon, Louise Penny, Jane Urquhart, Camilla Gibb, Richard Gwyn, Esi Edugyan, Lawrence Hill, Omar El Akkad, and Lawrence Martin.
We promote literacy in the schools through Festival Field Trips, which bring high-school students to special youth events; TeensWrite! master class workshops for youth, and Authors@School, which takes writers into elementary schools.
We collaborate with Queen’s University and numerous local arts partners, and offer all students free rush seats to onstage events.
