Our Mission

Kinesis Dance Society's (a.k.a. Kinesis Dance somatheatro) mandate is:

• to create and produce original works in both traditional and non-traditional venues,

• to push the envelope of contemporary dance by searching for innovative artistic processes, incorporating diverse forms of movement and collaboration with artists of varying artistic disciplines,

• to tour completed works regionally, nationally and internationally encouraging cultural exchange,

• to foster an environment in which artists are encouraged to explore their full physical, emotional and creative potential,

• to engage dance practitioners and artists from various disciplines and audiences in the creative process through education programs: open rehearsals, studio presentations, and workshops aimed to inform and engage both artists and consumers of art,

• to be an active, growing and contributing member of the Canadian dance milieu demonstrating excellence, integrity, and accountability in all our practices.

The organization is a Vancouver-based contemporary dance company (specializing in physical theatre) founded in 1986. Under the artistic direction of choreographer Paraskevas Terezakis the company has produced over 40 works, including 11 full length pieces.

Kinesis Dance somatheatro has performed in Vancouver, the Lower Mainland, British Columbia, Canada, the United States, Europe, The Balkans, and Central and South America.
