Hike For Hospice 2024

Join us for Hike for Hospice 2024!

Hike for Hospice is a family-friendly event that raises funds for Lionel Kelland Hospice. The Hospice is a place where those at the end-of-life receive the care, respect and dignity they deserve, and their families will have the critical support and resources they need. Now open, the Hospice serves people from communities throughout Central NL.

We invite you to hike, bike, walk, wheel, kayak, run, do yoga or simply be active during the week of June 9 to 15.  Choose your own distance or duration.  Participate in your hometown, worksite or wherever you happen to be.

We also encourage teams to come together with other supporters on Saturday, June 15 at 10:30 am for a community hike beginning at Centennial Field in Grand Falls-Windsor with a final community walk together to Lionel Kelland Hospice.

You can create your own team of family, friends or co-workers or participate solo. 

Thanks to the generous support of our presenting sponsor, Calibre Valentine Gold Mine, 100% of funds raised through Hike for Hospice supports our 10-bed community based residential hospice.   

Get Involved

Register as an individual, team up with your family, or challenge your co-workers and friends to get involved. Individuals who make a minimum $25 donation to kick off their own fundraising will earn a 2024 Hike for Hospice T-Shirt!  By registering online, you build your own fundraising page that you can share with your friends and family. Families with children are encouraged to participate (and fundraise), but we don’t expect families to make donations for children under 12.

Reach out to your friends and family for pledges and help us raise funds to ensure residents at Lionel Kelland Hospice receive the care, dignity and respect they deserve.  Donations and pledges, no matter how large or small, help create a peaceful home-like environment for people who are in the final stage of their lives.

Participants may track their successes and their team’s progress online.  

Community Hike – In Person – June 15

Gather with other supporters of Lionel Kelland Hospice. Check in at 10:30 am and go ahead and enjoy the beautiful trails.  We’ll celebrate our success together with a community lap to the Lionel Kelland Hospice from Centennial Field and a BBQ lunch hosted by Calibre Valentine Gold Mine after you have finished your Hike and have worked up an appetite.  We will also have family-friendly entertainment.

Date: Saturday, June 15

Times: 10:30 am to 12:00 pm - Hike portion; and 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm at Lionel Kelland Hospice for the BBQ and family entertainment.

Location:  Centennial Field, Cromer Avenue in Grand Falls-Windsor. You have your choice of distance.  Trails will be well marked. End at Lionel Kelland Hospice located at 3 St. Catherine Street.

Do Your Own Thing – June 9 to 15

During the week of June 9 to 15 – just get out and do your thing – anywhere and at any time. While doing your thing, inspire others by snapping a picture and sharing it through social media and tag Lionel Kelland Hospice on Facebook or Instagram.

A reminder to those who plan to participate at your own location – please register before May 23 to ensure you get your T-Shirt in time!
