Karma Tashi Ling was founded by the Very Venerable Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche ( website: http://rinpoche.com/). Rinpoche was asked by local dharma students to help create a practice centre in Edmonton, Alberta. With his vision, we are able to offer authentic Buddhist teachings to the community, and the Canadian and international group of interested and dedicated students.
The larger Buddhist vision of easing suffering, and helping people understand the nature of mind is a treasured part of our mission. Rinpoche has also created a particular focus for what we do at Karma Tashi Ling.
At a recent teaching, Rinpoche described the stages of how delusion can arise as wisdom - and as an example he gave the meditation on what's known in English as the Yidam. This can be translated as 'highest mind'. Yidam meditation is how we practice essential Buddhist teachings at Karma Tashi Ling.
