Inuit Art Foundation

about

Established in 1987, the Inuit Art Foundation is an Inuit-led organization providing support to Canada’s Inuit art communities. The Foundation works with the rich history of Canada’s Inuit artistic expressions while actively contributing to the development of contemporary practices.

As the sole national body mandated to promote Inuit art within Canada and internationally, the Foundation undertakes advocacy on behalf of artists and realizes a number of strategies aimed at enhancing the appreciation and interpretation of Inuit art.

Inuit Art Quarterly & Inuit Artists Database:  Builds the knowledge of the community by featuring scholarly and popular content on Inuit Art and a professional platform for learning about historical and emerging Inuit artists.?

Igloo Tag Trademark:  A program to safeguard the community in authenticity of artworks produced by Inuit artists

Capacity-Building:  Enabling Inuit artists to engage in their practice through self-directed professional development via the Kenojuak Ashevak Memorial Award and the Virginia J. Watt and Dorothy Stillwell Award.

Outreach:  Advocating for Inuit artists throughout the North and the South via a variety of platforms.

To our supporters, who are committed to making a transformational impact in the lives of Inuit artists and believe that this incredible art form deserves greater recognition -- thank you.
