Interval House of Ottawa (IHO) is a home. It is a safe space. It’s a place for women and children to laugh, cry, and to grow and become stronger. Our programs are designed to educate, integrate, and generate change in the lives of women and their dependents who are fleeing violence. We rely on your donations to keep our shelter fully operational! Help us to provide safe shelter and support to women and children fleeing violence.
Our goal this year is to raise $3,300. This is the amount it takes to run IHO for one day and includes:
- providing heat and hot water to a 9,000 sq.ft home
- offering a home-cooked dinner, as well as food for all other meals of the day for 30 women and children
- staffing our front office, which answers our crisis line, ensures the safety of the house and provides support to residents
- providing counselling and practical supports to women and children to help them transition to a life free from violence
What is Giving Tuesday?
GivingTuesday is a global movement for giving and volunteering, taking place each year after Black Friday. The “Opening day of the giving season,” it’s a time when charities, companies, and individuals join together and rally for favourite causes. In the same way that retailers take part in Black Friday, the giving community comes together for GivingTuesday.
