IDA Ontario is a registered charity and branch of the International Dyslexia Association. Our mission is to create a future for all who struggle with dyslexia and other related reading differences. We fulfill this goal by running effective projects that raise awareness, and create a fun community for all readers to participate!
The Literacy and Learning Conference - Our yearly conferences unite educators and dyslexia advocates across Canada and the USA, providing a forum for teachers, parents, psychologists, and speech-language pathologists to connect and collaborate to improve outcomes for students with dyslexia.
Workshops, webinars and teacher training courses - A wide variety of courses to ensure educators, families, and anyone with a passion for literacy have a strong understanding of reading science and effective instruction.
The Library Project - We partner with public libraries annually to bring awareness to the early signs of dyslexia. Through the project we provide $500 mini-grants for public libraries to purchase decodable books in order to help struggling readers.
Reading Road Trip Podcast - A free podcast designed to build teacher knowledge of effective reading instruction. Host and classroom teacher Kate Winn explores evidence-based literacy instruction with a fabulous guest. From researchers and authors, they're all sharing practical ideas that can be implemented now for the betterment of classes, schools and districts!
We believe individuals with dyslexia have the right to achieve their potential, and that individual learning abilities can be strengthened. Help us fulfill this mission with a charitable donation!
