What is PANS PANDAS?
PANS and PANDAS are postinfectious neuroinflammatory (autoimmune encephalitis of the basal ganglia) conditions often appearing very suddenly and affect the physical and mental health of children and young adults. They develop in the wake of common infections (such as Covid-19, chicken pox, influenza, or strep A in PANDAS cases) when the infection subsequently causes a misdirected immune response resulting in brain inflammation.

The Inflamed Brain Alliance is a new Canadian national not-for-profit charity who relies on the generous support of volunteers, donors and partners to transform the outlook of individuals facing PANS and PANDAS. As Canada’s first and only PANS PANDAS charity, we’re working to provide kids suffering with this disease and their families with the knowledge and support they need to improve quality of life. We also aim to raise public awareness, provide education and accelerate Canadian research activities.
