Immigrant Women Services Ottawa (IWSO) exists to empower women - women of colour, refugee women, black women – and their families in the City of Ottawa and the surrounding area to achieve their full potential, become productive members of society and participate in the elimination of all forms of abuse against women.

Our Impact

Violence Against Women is pervasive and insidious and unfortunately, is present within our communities. Our crisis and counselling services help immigrant and refugee women and their children find safety and supports to help them deal with the trauma they experience due to domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking or war trauma.

We also provide settlement & integration services to help women overcome barriers they face as newcomers and provide classes and activities that are designed to help them achieve social and economic equality.

Through our Language Interpretation services, the language barrier between clients and service providers are diminished and this enables clients to access available services effectively.

Immigrant and refugee women have unique needs and IWSO exists to provide the targeted supports that enable them to achieve their full potential.
