FINCA Canada is a member of the Global FINCA Network, working in 22 countries to alleviate poverty through financial inclusion. We provide micro-loans and financial literacy training so that women can start or rebuild their micro businesses and become more financially resilient in the long-term.

Why Now?

FINCA Canada has the unique opportunity to help prevent 120,000 women in Haiti and DR Congo from falling back into extreme poverty. We have partnered with the Government of Canada to help Haitian and Congolese women, their families and their communities economically survive through COVID-19 and form the foundation for long- term financial resilience. With your help, we will provide micro- loans, specialized financial services and products, as well as financial literacy and business training to these women.

If we can raise $1.2 million, the Government of Canada will match $4 for every $1 donated

Women need access to capital to rebuild or pivot their small and micro-businesses, and for once, they need to be prioritized over others. FINCA provides micro-loans to low-income women in developing countries to pivot or restart their micro-businesses so that they can lift themselves out of poverty.

When women are given the tools to earn their own income, their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren reap the benefits. FINCA Canada’s research has clearly shown that women’s improved financial well-being benefits the whole family as they are more likely to prioritize nutrition, education and medical care for their families, in addition to accessible clean water, clean energy and sanitization for their communities. This financial empowerment approach has enabled 4.5 million women around the world to lift themselves out of poverty with the Global FINCA network’s support.

With your help, FINCA Canada will help a further 120,000 women in the DR Congo and Haiti avoid sliding into extreme poverty.
