To mobilize volunteers and community partners to build safe, decent, affordable housing while promoting affordable homeownership to improve families' lives.

About Us

Established in 2002, Habitat for Humanity Peterborough & Kawartha Region is a non-profit housing organization. Through volunteer labour and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds houses in partnership with homeowner families. We have partnered with 83 families, housing 124 adults and 120 children. 

We offer moderate-income, working families and individuals a hand-up, not a hand-out, giving them the ability to build strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership.

Habitat does not give away free homes — the families who partner with us pay an interest-free mortgage geared to their income and volunteer 500 volunteer hours with our organization.

As Habitat homeowners pay off their mortgage, the funds are invested into a revolving fund, which is used to build more homes for more families in the community.

Homeownership provides a solid foundation for families to build brighter, more prosperous futures. Better, affordable living conditions lead to improved health, stronger childhood development, and the ability to achieve financial stability.

You can take pride in knowing that 100% of your donation to Habitat PKR goes directly into homebuilding efforts, funding the construction of more safe, decent, and affordable housing. All administrative costs are paid for by the revenue generated at our ReStore.
